This dive site is a series of underwater caverns leading to Boracay’s famous Bat Cave, home to thousands of the little furry flying creatures. The Bat Cave is a shallow dive, with a maximum depth of 7 meters. The underwater caverns have a sandy bottom with patches of rock. Light shines through gaps in the top of the cavern, creating a spotlight effect with rays of light shining down on isolated spots underwater. Air also gets trapped at the top of the caverns creating an amazing mirror effect from certain viewing angles. Aside from the bats in the Bat Cave, the underwater caverns are home to banded sea snakes – lots of them.
The Bat Cave dive site is on the eastern side of Boracay and is only accessible during the Habagat Season (southwest monsoon during June to October). The dive site is only 10 minutes away by boat from Bulabog Beach.
As it is a cave dive, divers will need at least an Advanced Open Water certification.
