The PADI Rescue Diver course is said to be the most challenging of PADI’s dive certifications. The course is also one of the most rewarding as you learn to become a safer diver and help diver in need underwater. On the PADI Rescue Diver course you will learn and practice identifying, managing, and solving diving problems until they become second nature.
The common problems you will be trained to manage as a PADI Rescue Diver include; recognizing and managing a diver’s stress underwater, dealing with panic or unresponsive divers, and managing an emergency situation. You will also be trained in self-rescue and use of different emergency equipment such as oxygen units, floats, and marker buoys.
To take the PADI Rescue Diver course you will need to have accomplished an Emergency First Response course (EFR – CPR and First Aid) within the last 24 months. The Rescue Diver course is a pre-requisite to becoming a PADI Divemaster – the first level certification for a PADI Dive Professional.
